Enjoying a fun bike ride with your children to the playground, the petting zoo, or to the market for a delicious slice of cheese. Those are wonderful memories to make! To fully enjoy these moments, you want to be sure it's safe. With bags full of things to take with you, this can be quite a challenge. We're happy to provide you with helpful tips to make your bike rides with kids and luggage as safe as possible.
Choose a family bike
A family bike is specially designed with your needs as a parent in mind. These bikes have a super-strong frame to handle more weight during your ride and remain agile. Safe parking with children is also a priority. Our family bikes are equipped with a sturdy double-leg stand and a handlebar lock. This keeps your bike stable and makes it easy to remove your child from the child seat. We carry the Batavus Mambo and Batavus Quip family bikes.
A rear seat and panniers—it just fits!
Many Batavus bicycles are equipped with the MIK system on the luggage carrier. This system allows you to easily and securely attach accessories like panniers and child seats to your luggage carrier. Changing accessories is also quick and easy, allowing you to easily convert your family bike back into a regular bike. Ideal for a fun evening out on the town. Or if your children no longer ride with you after a few years.
The Mambo family bike can be optionally expanded with an extender on the luggage carrier (pictured). This creates even more space to fit, for example, a child seat and pannier simultaneously on your luggage carrier, without it getting in the way.
Want to take even more luggage? Choose a cargo bike!
Looking for even more luggage space or want to transport more children? Then a cargo bike is ideal for you. Our Batavus cargo bikes are carefully designed, focusing on safety, comfort, and the right accessories to ensure the bike perfectly meets your needs. Depending on the age of your children, you can attach a Maxi-Cosi holder, baby seat, or extra cushions.
When can my child ride my bike?
Many parents eagerly trade in their strollers for bikes to expand their world. But when can my child ride along on the bike? At what point do I switch from a front seat to a rear seat? We're happy to tell you all about taking your child on the bike. Besides these general rules, it also depends on your child's development. For tailored advice, there's always a Batavus bike shop near you.
