Many (electric) bicycles are suitable for a child seat, but Batavus recommends mounting a seat on the frame or stem. For safety reasons, mounting on an aluminum rack or handlebars is not recommended.
To make the right choice for safely transporting your child on your bicycle, we recommend visiting a bicycle shop near you. Batavus is an expert in bicycles, but child seats are not part of our product range. Choosing a suitable child seat can be made easier based on the bicycle, the maximum permitted weight, and any other requirements. With the bike on-site, the bike mechanic can give you specific advice and perhaps even install the selected seat correctly right away.

Maintenance services are not linked to the
bicycle itself, but are part of the service provided by the Batavus bicycle
shop. A dealer may offer one, two, or none of these services with the purchase
of a bicycle. You can read more about maintenance on this page.
How do I maintain my Batavus bicycle?

For your own safety, regularly check the
following points:
- Check that all nuts and bolts – especially wheel quick-releases – are properly tightened.
- Check the handlebars and stem for damage.
- Check that the braking function is still
adequate; you should stop within a few meters at a normal speed. - Check the tire pressure. You will find
information on the tire regarding the maximum air pressure. - Check the tread depth of the tires. If your tire looks worn, ask your Batavus dealer to check it.
- Check the lighting and signaling system. Are everything still working and are you visible? Clean your lights regularly, for example, with a dry cloth.
- Check the handlebar grips. Are they secure and not worn?
- On bicycles with rear suspension, check all the screws on the suspension components and ensure they are properly tightened. Also check for any play in the bearings.
Do you find it difficult to check these
points yourself and perform any maintenance yourself? Batavus recommends regular (at least once a year) maintenance checks at your Batavus dealer.

You can find the frame number on a sticker near the bottom bracket, next to the barcode, or on your bicycle's invoice. For Batavus, this starts with BA or AC followed by a 7-digit combination.
Frame number Batavus Altura
For the Batavus Altura, the frame number is in a different location. You can find the frame number on a sticker with a QR code. This can be found on the frame
near the bottom of the rear fender. You can read the frame number in the text
below the code. For Batavus, these frame numbers start with AH followed by a 7-digit combination.

Batavus recommends reporting it to the police.
You'll need your frame number for this, which you can find in the paperwork you
received with your bicycle. If you registered your bicycle with Batavus, you will have received all your bicycle details, including the frame number,
digitally. The frame number and bicycle details are registered with the RDW
(Netherlands Vehicle Authority). The police can link your bicycle details and
personal data. The RDW will then register your bicycle as stolen. This will be registered on the RDW website. You can also check here whether a bicycle has already been registered as stolen.

find information about a specific technology or electric bike in the
instruction manuals.

Yes, you can continue cycling even if the
battery is empty. The motor will no longer provide assistance, meaning you'll
have to pedal a little harder. Fortunately, this isn't bad for your e-bike.
Depending on the type of motor, the
pedaling will be a bit heavier without assistance. A front-wheel motor has a
freewheel, which means you can cycle very smoothly without assistance.

An electric bicycle only needs to be
calibrated if it is a bicycle with ION technology and a rear-wheel motor.
Calibration is necessary if the wheel has been removed from the electric
bicycle, for example, to replace a tire. Calibrating the bicycle can also help
in case of malfunctions and reduced support. This is usually done at a Batavus
dealer, but you can also do it yourself. Consult the instruction manual for the
procedure; it recommends calibrating the bike yourself once a month.

electric bikes are subject to wear and tear. A general characteristic of
batteries is that they lose capacity over time. An exact lifespan is impossible

strict European standards to guarantee safety. Despite these high safety
standards, there is always a very small chance that a battery will fail and
cause a fire.

this.

This is possible for bikes with Bosch, E-motion, and Shimano technology. For safety reasons, the batteries on ION electric bikes are not interchangeable. An additional battery can be registered on an ION electric bike through your Batavus dealer. Registering a battery on multiple

I see a frost symbol on my electric bike's display. What should I do?
The frost symbol appears when the
temperature is below 4 degrees Celsius. A common characteristic of all
batteries is their sensitivity to low temperatures. This is due to the
chemistry used, which is subject to temperature effects. At temperatures below
10 degrees Celsius, this generally means a longer charging time, less power,
and a shorter range. This temperature effect, unlike the aging effect, is
temporary. This means that when the ambient temperature rises again, the
battery's performance will return to its previous level.

If the humidity is very high and the bike
experiences a rapid temperature change due to the environment or sunlight,
moisture from the air may condense on the display. A display is splashproof,
but not airtight. Much attention has been paid to waterproofing displays, but
these kinds of physical phenomena are almost impossible to prevent. The
condensation will disappear naturally with better weather and lower humidity.
