Everything you need to know about the MIK system for bicycle accessories

Your bicycle is a real all-rounder: it takes you from A to B and you can literally go anywhere with it. You often take groceries, children or your dog with you on your bicycle. You can store these in all kinds of bicycle accessories, such as a pannier or a child seat. Part of the Batavus collection is equipped with the MIK system. This system is incorporated into the luggage carrier. With this smart system, you can change your bicycle accessories in no time. Simply click what you need onto your carrier, from a (dog) bicycle basket to a child seat – without using any tools.

The difference between the various MIK systems

There are three types of MIK systems: MIK, MIK HD and MIK STUDS. We are happy to explain the differences.

MIK is the basic system. It allows you to quickly and easily attach various accessories such as panniers, baskets and other accessories to your bicycle. All without the hassle of tools. Whether you are a city cyclist, a busy parent or a mix of both, you can customise your bicycle to suit your needs. MIK can be found on the Batavus Altura and the Batavus Fonk.

Please note that the accessory you want to attach must have a MIK Adapter Plate. Other accessories can be made MIK ready with an Adapter Plate. Ask your bicycle shop for more information.

Ready for heavier loads with MIK HD

The HD in MIK HD stands for “Heavy Duty”. These MIK HD luggage carriers are extra strong and can carry weights of up to 27 kilograms. MIK HD can be found on the Batavus Mambo and all Batavus Finez bicycles.

The Batavus Mambo can even carry 35 kilograms of luggage if it has an extender.

Want to know if your Batavus bicycle has MIK HD? You can easily recognise MIK by the MIK HD logo on the rear carrier.

Easily carry side bags with MIK STUDS

In addition to MIK and MIK HD, there are also luggage carriers equipped with MIK STUDS. The MIK STUDS system makes it possible to carry MIK SIDE side bags. The MIK STUDS system is located in the bike rack. You can recognise it by the three mounting points on the side of the rack. Attach the accessories to your bike and you're ready to go.
